Among other pieces festival's guests-composers will perform their own contemporary and experimental compositions.
Performers: Jim Franklin (shakuhachi & electronics), Keisuke Zenyoji (shakuhachi), Christopher Yohmei Blasdel (shakuhachi), Nao Higano (voice), Haruko Watanabe (koto), Vlastislav Matoušek (shakuhachi) and Klára Matoušková (voice and sacral bells)

20:00 Main Concert of Prague Shakuhachi Summer School - famous traditional and contemporary compositions performed by top players; concert will be recorded for DVD.

Monday 17.08.09 - Maazhaus of New Town town-hall - admission 150/100 CZK
20:00 "Zen: Sound and Silence" - spiritual music of the shakuhachi handed down for centuries within a closed circle of the initiated; tradition of playing which was considered a spiritual practice - a meditation.
Performers: Jim Franklin, Vlastislav Matoušek, Keisuke Zenyoji, Christopher Yohmei Blasdel and Edjun Iechika
