Interview with Jim Franklin

Jim Franklin is one the few European professional shakuhachi players. In past years he stood behind some of the key projects of the European shakuhachi being a founding member and subsequently the chairman of the European Shakuhachi Society as well as teacher at several workshops including Prague Shakuhachi Summer School 2009.

The initial part of this interview was conducted some time before Prague Shakuhachi Summer School 2009; the second part of the interview reflects the Summer School.

Třídenní soustředění s flétnou shakuhachi. Akce bude probíhat od večer pátku do neděle večer na statku sochaře Petra Kavana v Malé Lhotě v Českém ráji (www.petrkavan.cz). Jedná se o nádhernou lokalitu s lesy a skalami, co by kamenem dohodil od hradu Trosky a hradu Kost (mapa) .

 

Akikazu Nakamura in Warsaw

On February 11, Akikazu Nakamura will perform in Polish National Opera. Nakamura is renowned for unusual breath techniques and specific colour of tone. Concert is co-produced by Japanese Embassy in Poland. More info here.
