20:00 CONCERT

Jean-Francois Lagrost will perform a unique piece for shakuhachi and processed voice with multi-channel sound. Jim Franklin will perform his own piece for shakuhachi and live electronics. Kiku Day will play contemporary music for the jinashi shakuhachi. Zenpo Shimura will introduce his project Cyber Shakuhachi (DVD screening) and Data-Live will be joined by Christopher Yohmei on the shakuhachi to demonstrate the instrument’s ability to produce live electronic ambient music. The final rave will be by DJ Nemesys.

Workshop: Working in Raga Malkauns

As a part of the ESF, Kees Kort will lead a workshop on Indian Raga music for the shakuhachi. The workshop is suitable for players of all levels.

CALL FOR PAPERS

International musicology colloquium "Shakuhachi: From Zen to Avant-Garde" will be held during the ESF 2010. It will offer talks on different musical and cultural aspects of the shakuhachi. The conference is organised by Institute of Musicology of Charles' University Prague and Institute of Music Theory of HAMU. Find more info here.
