Concert details for Prague Shakuhachi Summer School 14.08. - 18.08. 2009 at New Town town-hall

With regard to increased number of teachers this year we have decided to increase the number of compositions which will be taught. Each teacher will lead students through two pieces.

We know that shakuhachi players have varied social background and accommodation needs. That is why we have chosen to make a selection of available types of accommodation in the vicinity of the festival's venue, the New Town town hall. The list of hotels and hostels includes contacts, references and distance from the venue. Note that this is a mere selection not the entire list of suitable places to stay.

Prague Shakuhachi Summer School has developed over the past two years into an important European shakuhachi event that approaches the instrument from many different perspectives, from the theoretical to the practical, from the traditional to the contemporary. Each day the event features day-long master-classes, a yoga lesson, one academic lecture and one concert.

This web’s aim is to spread information from the world of European and Czech shakuhachi. Its foundation was motivated by the fact that, albeit fast growing, European shakuhachi community still lacks a web with implemented editorial system that could promptly report about numerous shakuhachi events taking place in each country.

Presentation of the creative workshop for new media artists and shakuhachi players. It is a unique European project aim of which is to offer the players and the artists space for communication and learning the principals of the other media. Everyone is welcome to apply.
