Japanese and Contemporary Music

Prague Shakuhachi Festival is an international event dedicated to Japanese and contemporary music. Every year at the end of August, virtuoso players, artists and composers meet together in Prague where they create, perform and teach. Aside from intensive masterclasses and lectures, the festival offers four outstanding concerts with their programing ranging from Japanese spiritual music to free jazz and contemporary avantgarde.

Visit the festival to broaden your musical horizons and feel the joy that only wild colours of tone, mesmerizing free rhythm and tones bent like wrinkles on John Cage's forhead can bring you.

The sixth year of the festival takes place at the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts on Lesser Town Square, August 24 - 28.
